Pool All Your Publications in ORCID

1. Log into ORCID

https://orcid.org/signin

2. Add works using ORCID’s “Search & Link” wizards

This avoids manual entry and ensures accuracy.

1. Go to “Works” → “Add works” → “Search & link.”

2. Choose Crossref / Scopus / ResearcherID / PubMed.

3. Authorize the tool.

4. Select and import your works.

5. Merge duplicates if prompted (especially for Scopus).

3. Enable Auto‑Updates (highly recommended)

Journals and publishers will push new DOIs to ORCID automatically.

To turn this on:
Account → Trusted parties → Accept auto‑update permissions for Crossref, scopus, and DataCite.

Part 2: Link ORCID to eRA Commons

This step is now mandatory for NIH‑funded personnel as of Jan 25, 2026

1. Log in to eRA Commons: https://public.era.nih.gov/

2. Go to Personal Profile.

3. Scroll to Personal Identifiers.

4. Click “Create or Connect your ORCID iD.”

5. Sign in to ORCID and authorize access.

6. Confirm your ORCID iD now appears in your eRA profile.

Once this is done:
NIH systems (including RPPRs, biosketches, and grant applications) can read your ORCID publication list through SciENcv.

Part 3: Sync ORCID with SciENcv (where your NIH biosketch is generated)

SciENcv automatically imports your works from ORCID, so this is the essential final link.

1. Log in to My NCBI (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/myncbi/)

2. Go to SciENcv

3. Create a new NIH Biosketch

• Click “Create New Document.”

• Select NIH Biosketch (Common Form).

• Choose "External Source: ORCID" to populate fields.

4. Confirm ORCID is linked inside My NCBI

• Your ORCID iD listed in your My NCBI account settings

• Publications imported from ORCID available to select for:

  • Personal statement products

  • Contributions to Science
