What resources does MUSC Library have that provide information on the toxicity of medications?

Answer

In LexiComp, toxicity information is embedded into the drug summaries. Reproductive toxicity is not listed as a specific subheading but this information may be located under adverse effects, pregnancy & lactation, or toxicity. Also, on the top of the LexiComp screen, you will see a link to "Toxicology." This Lexi-Tox tool combines information on agents of toxicity, antidotes and decontaminants, household products, toxicology-specific calculators, and drug identification in one point-of-care application. If you have access to Micromedex, the format and type of information provided will be similar.

TOXNET is a group of databases covering chemicals and drugs, diseases and the environment, environmental health, occupational safety and health, poisoning, risk assessment and regulations, and toxicology. When you search for a specific drug, Toxnet will retrieve research articles about reproductive toxicity and effect on human reproduction, if available.

There are additional toxicology resources listed on the library's Drug Information guide.
